Sodium Sulfide Gel is used for:

Treating pain and discomfort caused by ingrown toenails.

Sodium Sulfide Gel works by absorbing into the nail to help relieve ingrown toenail pain.

Do NOT use Sodium Sulfide Gel if:

• you are allergic to any ingredient in Sodium Sulfide Gel

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Before using Sodium Sulfide Gel:

Some medical conditions may interact with Sodium Sulfide Gel. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:

• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding


• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement


• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances

Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with Sodium Sulfide Gel. Because little, if any, of Sodium Sulfide Gel is absorbed into the blood, the risk of it interacting with another medicine is low.

Ask your health care provider if Sodium Sulfide Gel may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Sodium Sulfide Gel:

Use Sodium Sulfide Gel as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

• Wash your hands before and after using Sodium Sulfide Gel.


• Carefully wash and dry the area around the ingrown toenail.


• Place a retainer ring cushion on your toe. Be sure that the slot is over the area where the ingrown toenail and skin meet. Smooth the ring down firmly.


• Apply enough medicine to fill the slot in the ring. Replace the cap on the medicine tube right away.


• Place the round center section of a protection bandage over the gel-filled ring. This seals the gel in place. Smooth the ends of the bandage around your toe.


• Remove the old bandage and reapply the medicine as directed until pain is relieved or until the toenail can be easily trimmed.


• If you miss a dose of Sodium Sulfide Gel, use it as soon as you remember. Continue to use it as directed by your doctor or on the package label.

Important safety information:

• If your symptoms do not get better within 7 days or if they get worse, check with your doctor.


• Sodium Sulfide Gel should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN younger than 12 years old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.


• PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Sodium Sulfide Gel while you are pregnant. It is not known if Sodium Sulfide Gel is found in breast milk after topical use. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Sodium Sulfide Gel, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.

Possible side effects of Sodium Sulfide Gel:

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. No COMMON side effects have been reported with Sodium Sulfide Gel. Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue).

If OVERDOSE is suspected: Contact 1-800-222-1222 (the American Association of Poison Control Centers), your local poison control center, or emergency room immediately.

Proper storage of Sodium Sulfide Gel:

Store Sodium Sulfide Gel between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C), in a tightly closed container. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Sodium Sulfide Gel out of the reach of children and away from pets.
